As soon as we have finally got into understanding how to deal with Covid and ensuring staff-to-child ratios, Omicron now has popped up raising more concern as to what to expect. Staffing was an issue before the pandemic, and as I speak to some of you, it has gotten worse.
The good news is if your staff has been vaccinated along with received their booster shot, according to a New York Times article I read it states that “our booster vaccine regimens work against Omicron”. But that still does not mean that one will call out because they tested positive with covid and have to quarantine for 10 or 14 days.
If you are still dealing with trying to decrease your High Staff Turnover and grow your center/school in the midst of this pandemic that we are still in, here is what your center/school is going to need to be able to fight against these external problems:
- A system that works automatically on your behalf that provides Stability in Staff and Leverage if staff quit or can’t come in. This system in return should ensure staff-to-child ratio compliance, a stable teacher in the classrooms that will always be a familiar face to children and families and gives you peace of mind. Think of it like this: You already have a System in place, but if it does not already do these things, then these are the areas that you really want to get laser-focused on how to find solutions to.
- A System that creates a Staffing Team of Brand Ambassadors of your center/school. Think of people that get your vision so much that they want to endorse what you do by not just working for you as a Teacher or Team Member, but working WITH YOU. They want to be a part of something bigger, and you have done such a great job in vividly explaining your vision and creating a culture that lives by that every day, that working for you is an opportunity of a lifetime.
- Time to Build and Create these solutions so that they work for your unique center/school needs. This is not something that you will be able to create overnight. This is rooting up what’s not working and reconstructing something new and innovative. And this is going to need your undivided time and attention. And I know this is where the rubber meets the road for you because being pulled in the classrooms is kind of the name of the game for you right now.
