YAY!! Happy October 1st Y’all! 🎃 This week has been super busy for me! I spent about 22 hours working and being a CEO, and it was so productive! I feel so READY for October! But today it’s time to shut that off, break away and get ready for my weekend. Fridays are my day off, and this week I feel I totally DESERVE IT! 🥰
My Definition of Self-Care is to do what I feel when I feel like it. So some Fridays, self-care for me will look like cleaning my house. Or doing nothing and watching TV until everybody gets home. Today I decided to go shopping and grab some fall decor items to start my decorating. Coming home to do a little cleaning and decorating to some smooth jazz playing in the background is exactly what my self-care looks like today.
As the CEO of my business, I feel I have earned the right to set my own schedule, and having 4-day work-week works for me. Here are some changes I made that helped me transition from a 50+ hours workweek to an average of 25 hours a week and off every Fridays:
✅ First, I had to admit that my relationship with my business, was an unhealthy one. Just like any other relationship, if there is one that is taking and taking, and never giving back it’s unhealthy. Your Business is no different. You and your business are two different entities so to speak.
✅I Blocked Fridays Off. I Planned and re-arranged my calendar so that it only allows me to schedule things Monday-Thursday. Most digital calendar systems will allow you to easily do this. And if I try to schedule things on Fridays it will ask me if I want to override, which forces me to stop and think about why I “need” to work on a Friday.
✅Stopped trying to do too much! I learned to simplify my business, while still ensuring the things I was working on were impactful to the growth of my business. Less is More. Smarter not Harder always wins!
Don’t ever think for a second you can’t have Fridays off and work reasonable hours as a mompreneur or business woman. Which one of these tips are you going to try? Let’s chat in the comments!
